今回は先日、ニュートラルベイ（シドニー）で開催された
日本人作家によるハンドメイド＆クラフトマーケットを紹介します。
Hi Everyone! It’s emi here, reporter for Haconiwa.
This time I’d like to introduce you to a market for handmade and handcrafted products by Japanese artisans held here in Neutral Bay in Sydney.

Hand to Hand Marketは今回が初めての開催。

『日々の暮らしをナチュラル、シンプルに。素材にこだわり、１つ１つ丁寧に作られたハンドメイドならではの温もりある作品を大切に受け取ってくれる人たちとシェアをしていきたい。』という思いがマーケットを開催するきっかけに。
This was the first time the Hand to Hand market was held. The concept of the market is “a natural and simple lifestyle and the hope is that the products, handmade with care and warmth, will be shared with customers who will cherish their purchase”.

何もかもが初めてということで、開催場所を探すのも一苦労。。。
でもそんな時に、快く場所を提供してくれたのが、ReNCOUNTERオーナーのHideさん。
Everything was new and challenging even finding a location to hold the market. However, ReNCOUNTER owner Hide san very gracefully offered to let us use his salon for the location.

実は、ReNCOUNTERは普段はヘアサロン。
ですが、お店のコンセプトは、ヘアスタイリストとして、クリエイティブなスタイルを提案するのはもちろんのこと、サロンスペースを様々なアーティストに提供して、アイディアを形にする空間を作り出したい。と、とてもユニークで素敵なコンセプト♪
今までに、写真や絵の個展、ライブミュージックもサロンのスペースで行われています。
As a matter of fact ReNCOUNTER is a hair salon, however, it is not only somewhere hair stylists apply their art but is also often used as a space for other types of artists. The concept is that through the space artists can actualize or ‘bring to fruition’ their ideas and that the space itself becomes a part of the artist’s vision. I believe it is a very cool and unique concept. Hide san has offered the use of ReNCOUNTER to many different artists, including as a gallery for painters and photographers and a venue for musicians to perform live music.

ちなみに、Rencounterの名前の由来は、『偶然の出会い、めぐり会い。』人と人との繋がりが始まる場所であって欲しいと願いを込め、この名前にしたそうです。
For your information, ReNCOUNTER means a happenstance (unplanned or “chance”) meeting. It was named ReNCOUNTER as it was hoped it would be a place where connections between people could begin.

ジャンルの垣根を越え、そんなReNCOUNTERとHand to Hand Marketの思いが重なり今回のマーケット開催が実現したんですね。
The ReNCOUNTER ideal of becoming a place where people meet and the walls between art and artists break down made it a perfect match for the conception of the Hand to Hand Market.

ではでは、これから少しずつですが、Hand to Hand Marketの作品達を紹介していきたいと思います。
So now that I have introduced the location for the market and given you a bit of background to how it all started I would like to briefly describe for you some of the products.

壁のリースは雲竜柳をベースにユーカリの葉やネイティブフラワーなどドライになるものや、長持ちする素材を使った作品。デザインがシンプルでエレガントなので、クリスマスの時期だけでなく一年中お部屋に飾りたくなりますね。
The wreaths displayed on the wall are made using unryu willow as a base as well as dry eucalyptus leaves and native (Australian) flowers, which are materials that will last for a long time. Because of the long lasting and natural materials as well as the simple and elegant design you can enjoy these wreaths all year long not just at Christmas time.

カラフルな手染めの毛糸を見ていると編み物を初めてみたくなります♪
手編み草履は浴衣や着物の生地を使って編んであるのでとても丈夫で長持ちします。
Such beautiful hand dyed wool makes you want to start knitting. The hand weaved sandals are made from yukatta so they are really strong, these were very popular!

こちらは、サンゴとスワロフスキーを使った繊細なピアスとブレスレット。
おでかけ用にも普段使いにもぴったりです。
Subtle and delicately designed earrings and bracelets made using swarovski beads and coral are good for going out and daily use.

こちらは、Aroma Crystalのペンダント。お気に入りの精油をガラスのペンダントに入れ、いつでも胸元から香りを楽しめるデザイン。実は私も檜のエッセンシャルオイルと一緒に購入しちゃいました。
These are Aroma Crystal pendants. Place a few drops of your favorite essential oil into the glass pendant and you will savor the lovely scent all day. I bought this myself with a Hinoki essential oil and I love it.

こちらの地球に優しいカトラリーホルダー。お箸やカトラリーを入れてクルクルと巻けて、ランチョマットにもなるので普段のランチやピクニックにも最適♪
These are very eco-friendly cutlery holders. Place cutlery or chopsticks inside the pockets, roll them up and take them with you, they are perfect for work or a picnic; the holders also double as a placemat!

とてもオシャレなガールズの子供服とアクセサリー♡
編みくるみボタンは、自分の名前を入れてオーダーすることができます。
Very stylish kids clothes and accessories. You can personalise the buttons by having your name placed on them. Awesome!

SATHYA CANDLE STUDIOのキャンドルはエッセンシャルオイルとフレグランスオイルをハンドブレンドしたソイワックスキャンドル。SUNRISE、MORNING、DAY、SUNSET、NIGHTの5種類で１日の各時間帯で楽しめる香りです。
Sathya candle studio’s candles are handmade from soy wax with blended essential and fragrance oils. The different scents include: SUNRISE、MORNING、DAY、SUNSET、and NIGHT. You can enjoy a different candle for each specific time of the day.

マーケット当日はスイーツとコーヒーもお店に並びました。
The market also offered coffee and sweets for customers enjoyment.

マクロビオティックスイーツ。乳製品、卵、白砂糖不使用の体に優しいスイーツです。とても人気で午前中で売り切れてしまいました。素材の味が楽しめる甘さ控えめ♡何個でも食べられちゃう美味しさです。
Macrobiotic sweets. Dairy, egg, and white sugar free, these gentle sweets are very good for your health. These exquisite sweets were very popular and sold out early in the morning. Because of the subtle use of sweeteners you could really taste the natural ingredients, you could also eat a lot as they were very gentle on your body.

もちろん、コーヒーも挽きたての豆で１杯１杯丁寧に淹れています。
マーケットの空間がコーヒーのいい香りに包まれて、とても癒されました。
Of course, freshly ground coffee was also on offer. Each coffee was carefully and individually brewed. The aroma of coffee enveloped the entire market space and made everyone, seller and customer, feel relaxed.

当日はギターでライブミュージックも演奏されました。
マーケットの雰囲気と優しいギターの音がマッチして、なんとも言えない心地よい時間が流れていました。
On the day of the market a live musician played guitar. The atmosphere of the market and soft guitar sounds really matched. A wonderful feeling was created and time seemed to flow gently through the day.

と、こんな感じで、Hand to Hand Marketは大盛況の内に終了しました。
そして今年もまた、出店者数を増やし、パワーアップしたHand to Hand Marketが１１月に開催される予定です。皆さん、シドニーにお越しの際は是非、足を運んでみてくださいね。

The Hand to Hand Market ended up being a great success. So this year the team is planning to again hold a market in November, they are hoping to increase the number of stalls and grow the concept.
